This painting is inspired by the walks my kids and I use to take around Beaufort when we'd visit our military cousins who were stationed there. It was a small and sweet season when the boys were very little and we "villaged together" to raise the children. Like a village raises a child and helps them through the storms of life, the marsh protects its inhabitants from literal storms and flooding. For example, one-acre wetland has the ability to store about three-acre feet of water, or one million gallons.
